I have a PGCE from UCL and have taught Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 at Winchmore School and Kingsmead School in London, and now currently part – time at Hendon School. I enjoy writing schemes of work, and use my knowledge and passion to focus on my skills of drawing and painting from my Fine Art experience and also my graphic design background. I teach SOWs on a broad selection of topics including mark making, drawing a head, surrealism and hybrid art. I like to include a broad cross section of artists and their work to encourage knowledge of artists from the past to show how they have influenced work today, and also contemporary artists and those working from multi – cultural backgrounds.
For post 16 teaching I enjoy working with smaller groups , encouraging a supportive environment for discussion and personal growth through the development of sharing ideas. One to one tutorials can also be hugely beneficial for individual support and developing personal interests. I have experience working with the A’ level AQA exam board and supporting students through choosing ideas for their chosen themes, and developing ideas through sketchbook work into final pieces.
I have taught private art lessons which are structured but follow the enthusiasm and interests of the child as much as possible. I can support pupils with areas for key stage requirements, or alternatively work to develop a more spontaneous and expressive working experience that is hard to achieve in large class sizes in school. Two Key Stage 2 students achieved Art Scholarships to secondary schools after creating a portfolio of work over several weeks.
During the covid lockdown period I worked online, creating work sheets, giving feedback and working with students to support them during their home studies, as well as some zoom tutorial support for older students.
